Weather: why was it so cold this morning?

Night temperatures from Monday to Tuesday plunged well below zero, sometimes down to -15 degrees! But how to explain it?

The cold is definitely felt this Tuesday morning and for good reason, the temperatures were largely negative last night. We recorded temperatures of -3 degrees in Brussels and Mons, -4 in Liège, -6 in Charleroi or even -8 in Namur or Bastogne, but it was in Elsenborn, in the Liège region, that it was the highest. cold: up to -15 degrees.

If it was so cold, it was the result of a mixture between continental polar air, clear skies and a very dry air mass above our country.

Although these temperatures are not exceptional, they are still quite rare for the month of January. Last year, at the same time, we recorded similar temperatures, down to -9 or -15 degrees.

With such temperatures, the roads can be very slippery with patches of ice, so be very careful. Furthermore, temperatures will return to positive levels throughout the day.
