On Friday evening, around 9:30 p.m., a 58-year-old woman was driving her electric car on Surbtalstrasse from Ehrendingen towards Endingen. A short time later, a 64-year-old also drove his car in the same direction.
“In the area of the municipality of Lengnau, according to initial findings, the 58-year-old’s electric vehicle switched off completely and remained unlit on the out-of-town route,” writes the Aargau cantonal police in a media release. The 64-year-old following behind collided with the stationary vehicle. The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles. Nobody was injured.
The Aargau cantonal police have begun investigations to clarify the exact cause of the accident. According to initial findings, the fact that the electric car was left unlit on the road meant that the driver behind noticed the vehicle too late.
Surbtalstrasse was closed to all traffic while the accident was being recorded as well as during the rescue and clean-up work. The Surbtal fire department set up an appropriate diversion. In addition to the fire department, patrols from the Zurzibiet regional police and the Aargau cantonal police were on duty.
