Le Havre Athletic Club (HAC), currently in difficulty in Ligue 1 with a 17th place in the standings, has formalized the arrival of Ahmed Hassan, known by the nickname “Kouka”.
The 31-year-old Egyptian international striker has signed a contract until the end of the season with the Norman club. Without a club since his departure from Rio Ave in Portugal, the center forward, with his international experience, is seen as a major reinforcement in the quest to remain in Ligue 1. Measuring 1.91 meters, this powerful and efficient striker ahead the goal promises to bring its physical rigor and precision to a Le Havre attack lacking in achievements.

Having played for several European clubs, Kouka has an extensive CV. In Europe, he distinguished himself in Portugal (Rio Ave, Braga), Greece (Olympiakos) and Turkey (Konyaspor, Alanyaspor), while having started his career in Egypt at Al-Ahly. Among his feats of arms are a Portuguese Cup, two Greek championships, a Greek Cup, as well as an Egyptian champion title. Internationally, he won the Africa Under-20 Cup in 2013 and was runner-up at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2017.
In the first part of the 2023-2024 season, Ahmed Hassan scored two goals in eleven appearances for Rio Ave, relatively modest statistics. However, Le Havre leaders are banking on its ability to quickly adapt to Ligue 1 and return to its best level. Approval of his contract, however, remains conditional on validation by the DNCG, the financial control body of professional clubs. With this recruit, Le Havre clearly displays its ambition: to get out of the red zone and secure its continued existence among the elite of French football. The challenge is big for Kouka, but his experience and his scoring profile could make the difference.
