Former FDP President and former Councilor of States Rolf Schweiger has died at the age of 80. “We will miss you,” writes the FDP.

Rolf Schweiger, former president of the FDP Switzerland, has died. “It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye,” writes the FDP Canton of Zug in an Instagram post.

The former Zug Councilor of States and former Cantonal Councilor died at the age of 80. His party is now paying tribute to him: “Rolf Schweiger was an outstanding lawyer and a passionate fighter for liberal values ​​and Switzerland.”

His “incomparable presence” and his commitment left a mark that “reaches far beyond his work.”

“Our condolences go out to his family and relatives during this difficult time,” writes the FDP. And says: “Rolf Schweiger, we thank you. We will miss you.”

Schweiger was in the Council of States for the FDP from March 1999 to December 2011. In 2004 he was also its president for seven months.
