Delhaize announces the takeover of 325 Louis Delhaize stores

Delhaize entered into an agreement on Monday with the Louis Delhaize group to acquire all of the shares of Delfood SA. This acquisition covers all 325 Louis Delhaize stores and businesses supplied by Delfood, logistics services and the head office in Belgium, Delhaize announced in a press release.

The agreement still needs to be approved by the Belgian Competition Authority. Delhaize indicates that it wishes to finalize this acquisition by the end of 2025.

The Louis Delhaize group had already sold all of the Match and Smatch supermarkets in September 2023, and announced the sale of around forty Delitraiteur stores to the Colruyt group in October 2024. Cora Belgique still remains, until now, in the hands of the group.
