Celtics injury report: Reserve removed for Sunday’s game vs. Pelicans

The Celtics will try to get back on track on Sunday night against the Pelicans and will have some more depth available on their bench. Jordan Walsh has been removed from the injury report for the 6 p.m. tip against New at TD Garden.

Two-way wing Drew Peterson (concussion) remains out for Boston for the second straight game. Baylor Scheierman is also out since he’s on assignment with the Maine Celtics along with JD Davison and Anton Watson.

Walsh will be back available for the first time since Sunday’s game against the Thunder after missing two straight games with a non-COVID illness. Walsh was initially a late add to the injury report before Tuesday’s win over the Nuggets along with Derrick White.

Sunday marks the fourth time this season that the Celtics’ main rotation will be at full strength but that hasn’t necessarily translated to success. Boston is 8-7 in their last 15 games and had a subpar effort on both ends of the floor in Friday’s loss to a sub .500 Kings squad with Walsh sidelined. It was Boston’s first game back at TD Garden in nine days after a four-game road trip.

“I don’t want to blame why we lost today on it being a trap game,” Jayson Tatum said Friday night. “Everybody plays 82 games, everybody travels, everybody plays back to backs. So don’t really want to use that as an excuse. Just, observation, we got to be better in all areas of the game, especially, didn’t really watch film, we will tomorrow, probably, but just kind of thinking back on what happened throughout the game, just down the line, everybody, we just got to be better.”

The Pelicans will be without Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones in the lineup due to injury. Dejounte Murray is questionable with a right shin contusion. Zion Williamson will be available though after a one-game suspension for violating team rules.

The Celtics and Pelicans tip off at 6 p.m. in Boston.
