The confrontation witnessed a large crowd of supporters of the “Red” team, who filled the sides of the stadium to support their team, while Fahd Mofi, a newcomer to Wydad, watched the match from the stands, accompanied by his family.
The hosts started the match in an attacking manner, led by Cassius Mailola, Mohamed Al-Raihi, and Saif Al-Din Bouhra, in an attempt to confuse veteran goalkeeper Abdel-Rahman Al-Hawasli, the visitors’ goalkeeper.
Contrary to the course of the game, Youssef Kajai was able to give Ittihad Tawarka the lead, after he rose to a header that landed between the feet of the young goalkeeper, Omar Akzdaw, in the 17th minute.
But Wydad’s response was not delayed, as the referee awarded a penalty kick following a mistake by defender Elias Al-Haddad. Mohamed Al-Raihi converted the kick successfully in the 23rd minute, bringing the match back to a draw point. The referee later canceled a goal scored by Fouad Zahouani for Wydad due to offside.
-In the second half, Wydad controlled the course of the match, but collided with a solid defense from the Turkish team, which relied on a tight defensive plan under the leadership of coach Abdel Wahed Zomrat.
Despite the difficulty of penetrating the opponent’s defense, Mehdi Mubarak succeeded in scoring the winning goal for Wydad with a creeping shot that surprised goalkeeper Al-Hawasli, igniting the joy of the fans present.
In the 90th minute, Ittihad Tawarka almost snatched the equalizer, but goalkeeper Akzdaw excelled in stopping the attempt, ending the match with a valuable victory for Wydad.
