Pedro Porro was torn to shreds as Tottenham struggled against National League side Tamworth in the FA Cup on Sunday.
The Spaniard was far from his best at The Lamb Ground on 12 January, going up against 22-year-old Beck-Ray Enoru on the right flank and failing to keep him quiet.
Enoru was playing for Barwell just two seasons ago but still caused the Spurs right-back plenty of trouble on the 4G pitch, seeing the Premier League star slammed by his own supporters.
With one fan requesting immediately that Porro be sold, another went as far as to say he “needs to be released” following his dismal display against Tamworth.
As well as floundering in the defensive third, picking up a yellow card for his troubles, the right-back was just as wasteful in attack as he fired an effort far over Jasbir Singh’s crossbar.
Porro has become one of the most talented full-backs in the Premier League in recent seasons, with Tottenham News even understanding that Manchester City want him to replace Kyle Walker.
-However, the star will absolutely admit he had a poor day at the office as the Lilywhites were sent to extra-time of the FA Cup fourth round after a goalless 90 minutes with National League opposition.
Having gone up against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal this season, fans are baffled to see him fail to make his usual impact against a much lower opposition.
It will have been even more surprising to see him stay on the pitch for extra-time despite three substitutions being made at the break.
Of course, the players need to take a hard look at themselves after the FA Cup clash, but the pressure ultimately lands on the shoulders of Ange Postecoglou, who is under more pressure now than ever.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs have been handed a “great boost” as “fantastic” news emerged recently.
