In St. Anton there is room for another surprise, Lara instead is fifth

After a free ascent below expectations, Lara Gut-Behrami only partially redeemed herself in the super G in St. Anton. Cleaner than the one the day before, the test proposed in Tyrol was in fact not fast enough to push the 32-year-old from Ticino onto the fourth podium of the season. Different story for Lauren Macuga, the second surprise of the Austrian weekend. Starting with bib number 17, the young American – so far never in the top 3 in her career – gave herself her first ever success with the classic perfect race (and thanks to the best visibility), leaving considerable gaps on the competition: 68 hundredths to Stephanie Venier, 92 to Federica Brignone, 1″24 to Lindsey Vonn and 1″26 to Lara, fifth and still in command in the specialty rankings (but now alone, given the exit of Goggia).
