The big figures in Saturday’s slalom were different. Clément Noël took the win after a crazy ride on the steep slope, while the Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathen came second on the Chuenisbärgli. The discipline leader Loïc Meillard started in the first run and therefore lost the red jersey to the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, who completed the podium. Tanguy Nef in eighth and Marc Rochat in tenth pulled the coals out of the fire for Switzerland.

Now Marco Odermatt, Meillard and Co. want to ensure a Swiss highlight in Adelboden this Sunday in the giant slalom. The fact that the highlight of the World Cup weekend in the Bernese Oberland doesn’t take place until Sunday is due to the weather. Yesterday, Saturday, the fog hung stubbornly on the route as expected – today the conditions are better and enable a fair giant slalom.

Whether it’s enough for a Swiss podium place or even a victory, you can follow here from 10.30 a.m. in the live ticker and in the stream from SRF. The second run starts at 1:30 p.m.

For a long time it looked like a disappointing race from a Swiss perspective: no Swiss woman was in the top 10 in the downhill from St. Anton – until 21-year-old Malorie Blanc came with start number 46. The junior world champion had to cope with a major setback less than a year ago.

Once Lara Gut-Behrami has resigned, Swiss skiers will face dark times – at least many Swiss ski fans fear. Especially in the speed races. That could have been the conclusion after the departure from St. Anton. In twelfth place, 33-year-old Gut-Behrami was on course to be Swiss-Ski’s best athlete again for a long time. Then came Malorie Blanc.
