ATLANTA — After widespread wintry precipitation fell across metro Atlanta Friday, the concern now turns to that moisture freezing onto roads and bridges, setting up for a messy Saturday for drivers.
11Alive is monitoring current road conditions below, where you can keep track of real-time traffic data and road temperatures.
Georgia Department of Transportation said more than 300 pieces of equipment were deployed across the region to plow Georgia roads. GDOT said its crews are working 12-hour shifts and are prioritizing routes heavily traveled by emergency vehicles.
However, GDOT cautioned conditions on the roads will continue to deteriorate and should be considered hazardous for travel. Numerous crashes and incidents have been reported on Georgia’s interstates and state routes. For their own safety, drivers should continue to heed all warnings to stay off the roads.
