“It was TF1 that had this idea”: Dorothée reveals why she let herself be convinced of a show in her honor

She cultivates her discretion but her status as an eternal icon brings Dorothée back to reality and to her immense fan base. TF1 understood this well and prepared an exceptional evening in honor of the presenter who had her heyday in the 1990s. A big celebration that the person concerned, although not a fan of these spotlights, did not could only accept. “It was TF1 who had the idea”she attests in an interview with “Télé 7 jours”, on newsstands on Monday January 13. “I only react when I fall in love and there, the proposal was very touching”supported this instinct, still amazed by the impact it can leave on an entire generation. Faced with the many surprises reserved by the production, Dorothée does not regret her choice. “I didn’t expect to experience such an adventure and so many emotions”, she teases, even though she had shown signs of anxiety on the eve of filming, for fear of “not being good enough” of his notoriety.

A heartbreaking reunion

The teams of this already recorded show were not stingy with gifts, broadcasting numerous new archive images and bringing together numerous guests, some of whom will cover his greatest hits. The strongest moment for the star of the evening? “I was moved to see Patrick Simpson-Jones again (his former sidekick from Club Dorothée, editor’s note), who lives in the United States, and whom I had not seen for a long time“, indicates the one who “took days” to recover from this string of emotions. Her reunion with Zabou Breitmann, whom she had never met again since leaving “Récré A2” is also one of her fondest memories, as is the welcome the public gave her at the very start of the show. See you on January 24 for this great dive into the past with him.

His clever response to criticism

During this interview, the former queen of the ratings also spoke of the controversies sparked by “Le Club Dorothée” at the time when it was broadcast on the front page. Accused of dumbing down children, particularly by politicians, due to the violence of certain cartoons, the host is delighted to see mentalities changing. “It always hurts to be criticized for something you believe in. The important thing was not the adults’ opinion but the viewers’ feelings. The children knew the difference between fiction and reality. Today, some people tell me that, thanks to Club Dorothée, they are making a career in manga or creating cartoons.”she argues, citing the examples of “Nicky Larson” and “Cat”s Eyes”, adapted for the big and small screen.
