Every year the SVP Switzerland meets for the squad conference in Bad Horn. Every year the party sets a thematic focus and welcomes internal and external speakers.
This year’s theme was “Security for Switzerland”. Because Switzerland’s internal and external security is no longer guaranteed. This was also shown by the in-depth discussion and the experts’ presentations.
Daniel MoeckliHead of the Center for Security Studies at ETH Zurich, made a geopolitical classification. Pascal LüthiDirector of the Federal Office of Customs and Border Security, spoke about the advantages and disadvantages of the Schengen area for border security. Markus MäderState Secretary for Security, assessed Switzerland’s security policy position. professor Frank Urbanio gave a lecture on the topic of migration and internal security. Using facts and figures, he showed that certain migration groups have massively higher crime rates. His conclusion: If you want positive migration, you also have to clearly identify the negative sides of migration. National Council Pascal Schmid spoke about criminal asylum migration and the negative effects on the security of the Swiss population. Corps commander Thomas Süssli calls for a strong army. “The army must be credible again to be able to defend Switzerland. That’s not the case today.” Oliver DürrCEO Rheinmetall, made a passionate plea for Switzerland as an armaments location. This requires a reliable political framework, particularly in the War Materials Act.
Jean-Philippe Gaudinformer director of the federal intelligence service, misses an important quality in those responsible today: the anticipation of future developments and dangers. Former National Councilor Christoph Mörgeli and National Council Michael Gotte demonstrated the SVP’s positions on armed neutrality and the Swiss army. No party is as credible as the SVP: The SVP stood by the army even when the mainstream parties believed that armies were no longer needed. And today we stand by Swiss neutrality, where the same mainstream believes that neutrality is no longer up to date.
Conclusions of the Bad Horn Conference 2025
The state must ensure internal and external security. This is his sacred mission: the Swiss should feel free and safe in their own country.
This security is no longer guaranteed in Switzerland.
- The army is poorly run.
- Illegal and uncontrolled migration endangers internal peace.
- Imported crime has reached record levels.
What is particularly worrying is that Switzerland is no longer able to independently ensure the security of the country and its population. Only a sovereign state can fulfill this task. But this sovereignty is in danger and has already been partially abandoned.
Due to the EU gag agreements (Schengen/Dublin/free movement of people), Switzerland is no longer allowed to secure its borders sovereignly and stop uncontrolled immigration and illegal asylum migration. And the Federal Council wants to completely hand over Switzerland to the crisis-hit EU with the planned subordination agreement. That would be the complete end of our self-determination. Also and especially in security issues.
The fact that Switzerland can no longer ensure its internal and external security is a result of political errors – and a result of incorrect appointments. Namely in the Defense Department (VBS) and the army. Ms. Amherd prefers to deal with gender issues in the army rather than the army’s equipment. It has weapons ordered for Switzerland delivered to Ukraine. These are the wrong priorities, Federal Councilor!
Federal Councilor Viola Amherd’s agenda has become a security risk for Switzerland. It undermines the foundation of our safe, neutral and free Switzerland.
Threatened freedom. As Federal President, she happily greets the President of the EU Commission and is ready to hand Switzerland over to the crisis-ridden EU – and thereby abandon our country’s independence and democracy.
-Neutrality threatened. Anyone who gradually binds Switzerland to NATO accepts that young Swiss people will die abroad and Switzerland will be drawn into foreign conflicts.
Anyone who so carelessly undermines Swiss neutrality, which has protected our country from foreign conflicts for over two hundred years, as Federal Councilor Amherd has, has not understood the foundations of peace and prosperity in Switzerland. Swiss neutrality is the most important guarantee of security: by ensuring that there is no war, that we do not become the target of hostile attacks and that we do not take sides in conflicts and thus become a party to the war.
Threatened external security. Chaos in the VBS department, unclear army financing, sloppy armaments projects, thinning of army stocks, NATO rapprochement instead of armed neutrality: Anyone who undermines the Swiss Army’s defense capability, like Ms. Amherd, is no longer acceptable as VBS boss[1].
Threatened internal security. New Year’s Eve riots, clan crime, knife attacks, Islamic terrorism, record high crime: anyone who accepts destructive immigration and asylum migration is endangering the security of their own population.
The finding is clear: We must restore security and freedom in Switzerland.
Because: Without security there is no freedom. And without freedom, a state cannot ensure the security of its population.
This has been clear to the SVP Switzerland for a long time: we stand for safe and free Switzerland. Our politics, but also our management staff, must be aligned with this. That’s why the wrong appointments must be corrected: the defense department and the army need new leadership. A leadership that once again fulfills its core mission: For a safe, neutral and free Switzerland!
That’s why our conclusion from this year’s Bad Horn conference is: Resign, Federal Councilor Amherd. And as quickly as possible. With this you could at least do Switzerland one last service.
