Sanctions maintained for OL after its appearance before the DNCG appeal committee

Heard this Friday by the legal commission of the DNCG, the leaders of OL were warned that the sanctions imposed by the police of French football, in particular the ban on recruitment, are indeed maintained.

Hard blow for OL. While the leaders hoped to have arguments to put forward to plead their case and thus challenge the DNCG’s decision to relegate as a precautionary measure to Ligue 2to regulate the payroll and to prohibit his club from recruiting, the passage before the appeal committee of the French football policeman will have served no purpose since the sanctions against the Rhone club are maintained after an interview two hours.

During this meeting, the managers came in large numbers and presented recent cash inflows thanks in particular to several sales during the winter transfer window. Insufficient, however, for the FFF appeals committee, which maintains the ban on recruitment for OL. But as indicated by RMC Sport, the club can recruit, through loans. On the other hand, relegation to Ligue 2 as a precautionary measure was not affected by the appeal. Notification of details will be sent in writing next week.

Several cash receipts in recent months

Debted to the tune of 423 million euros, the club – and John Textor – are struggling to keep the money coming in. In addition to Eagle’s entry into the stock market, transfers during the winter transfer window (sales of Gift Orban, Jeffinho), the reduction in payroll (departure of Anthony Lopes) and even the good run in the Europa League (4th to two matches at the end of the League phase) are helping to replenish OL’s coffers.

In the championship, Lyon is on a good run. 5th in Ligue 1 before the 17th day and a trip to (Saturday at 5 p.m.), Pierre Sage’s men are only two points from the podium and direct qualification for the 2025-206 Champions League phase, which would allow OL to bring in significant additional funds to save the financial health of the Rhone club. At the end of the season, OL will return to the DNCG which will validate or not administrative relegation to Ligue 2.
