Second chance to be handed to ‘underperforming’ Everton player after major development at Goodison

Everton could now be set to pull the plug on one of their January transfer deals.

A turbulent few hours on Thursday have caused major disruption on Merseyside with Everton now in search of their next manager.

The day started in chaotic fashion with Everton vs Peterborough at risk of postponement due to the adverse weather conditions.

Perhaps that should have been a sign for things to come as Sean Dyche was to soon find himself out of a job just a matter of hours later.

As Leighton Baines managed Everton to FA Cup victory, further issues unraveled for The Friedkin Group during the game.

And one of those issues may have put a huge spanner in the works for their January transfer plans.

Beto’s Everton exit set to be cancelled

One of the big transfer stories at Everton this month has been Torino’s interest in signing Beto on loan until the end of the season.

The striker is not getting regular game time at Goodison Park and Beto has asked to leave Everton.

According to Alan Myers, that possibility is now potentially off the cards after Armando Broja’s fresh injury picked up against Peterborough.

‘Broja injury(if serious as it looks) probably means Beto won’t be going anywhere, no Chermitti and DCL injured,’ Myers posted on Thursday night.

It has been a difficult season for the Albania international who has spent the majority of the term sidelined through injury.

Broja suffered an injury concern against Bournemouth on the weekend, but he was able to come off the bench on Thursday for a matter of minutes before sustaining a new issue.

With their options dwindling, it is not a good sign for Beto after Everton approved his departure earlier this month.

Myers labelled Beto as ‘underperforming’ in the summer and his opportunities since have been few and far between, but this could now change.

Armando Broja injury latest

Everton saw their summer signing stretchered off the pitch at Goodison on Thursday evening having only come on as a substitute.

It was not a good sight for anyone in the stadium as the 22-year-old’s terrible injury luck continues to hinder his development.

Speaking after the game, Baines admitted it did not look great with Broja being helped off the pitch by the medical staff as he was provided pain-relief.

“It looked bad but I’ve not seen loads,” said Baines.

“He hasn’t gone to hospital because hopefully it’s not as bad as we thought it might be, it’s a lower-leg injury but he hasn’t been taken to hospital.”

The Friedkin Group were already targeting a new forward this month, perhaps that could now stretch to another striker.
