Mallorca players criticize Real Madrid’s “provocations”

After their Spanish Super Cup semi-final marked by an altercation between Vinicius Junior and Pablo Maffeo, Real Marjorque players denounced the behavior of their Real Madrid counterparts.

The Real Marjoque players had a bad evening in Jeddah. Jagoba Arrasate’s men were not only beaten 3-0 by Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday January 9, but they have the feeling of not having been respected by their opponents. A feeling linked to the strong tensions between Pablo Maffeo and Vinicius Junior, but not only that. At the end of the match, Jude Bellingham notably made a bad gesture which particularly heated up tempers.

“We have seen the provocations. We have the impression that Mallorca is the bad guy when that is not the case,” blasted Omar Mascarell into the microphone of journalists in the mixed zone. “They are the ones who provoke and we are made to believe that we are the only ones responsible. The match was very heated on both sides. (…) If the media look at today’s images, they will see that Marjoque does not is not the villain of the film,” added the 31-year-old midfielder, trained at Real Madrid.

“A kid who has been here for two days”

His teammate and vice-captain Dani Rodriguez also expressed his annoyance after the match. But for his part, the criticism is mainly directed towards Raul Asencio, the young central defender of Real Madrid: “I’m a bit of an old hand and you have to know how to win. He’s going to have a lot of matches to learn. Maffeo is on fire a little because he gets hit and then the kid comes in. He’s been there for two days and he needs to have a little more respect. I think they and we had some disagreements, but healthy disagreements that are. remained there (…) But that a kid who has been here for two days doesn’t know how to win?

With this 3-0 victory, Real Madrid will meet on Sunday January 12 (8 p.m.) to play the final of the Spanish Super Cup against FC Barcelona, who defeated Athletic on Wednesday (2-0).
