Breakfast brief

Snow, ice spread eastward, active PNW

Snow is falling across the Mid-Mississippi and Tennessee valleys before moving into the Carolinas today. After a break, the Pacific Northwest is dealing with another round of rain and snow. The Breakfast Brief is published daily, Monday through Friday, at 5:00 a.m. Eastern time.

Snow fell across the southern Plains Thursday, especially in DFW and OKC. At least 2 inches piled up for many with a glaze of ice to top it all off. Now, the Metro areas of Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., Nashville and Memphis, Tenn., are getting the wintry weather. Atlanta, however, is one of the main areas where snow, ice and rain will occur as the temperatures hover around the freezing mark.

The wintry weather moves east today with heavy rainfall bringing up the southern end along the Gulf Coast and Southeast. The Carolinas will see impacts later today, especially during the afternoon commute and overnight. Have your weather alerts switched on!
