“I assume that there will be measures which will inevitably make some people cringe,” says Maxime Prévot to Jeudi en Prime

One of the objectives of the next federal government is to revalue work. It’s about “recreate a significant difference between those who work and those who do not work“, recalls Maxime Prévot. In short, ensure that “people have an interest in going to work rather than remaining unemployed with a whole series of social benefits or related social benefits“, specifies the president of Les Engagés.

A difference of 500 euros is the amount set by Arizona. Negotiators have yet to agree on the terms. On the one hand, there is a tax reform to raise the lowest salaries. “Today we are talking about a tax reform of the magnitude of 5 billion euros“, specifies Maxime Prévot who will not say more today on the terms of this reform. “I am not going to sell on your platform a measure which is perhaps still under debate and which is likely to evolve in the next two weeks.“, he justifies before specifying that the tax reform is “one of the most complicated mountains to climb“Should we or should we not have new taxes? Should we or should we not make the broadest shoulders contribute more and how? Arizona’s partners are not unanimous on the subject.”I am convinced that there will be no capacity to generate support from the population for the reforms that will be implemented. If these, if citizens do not have the feeling that there is a fairly distributed efforti”, however points out Maxime Prévot.

To generate a differential of 500 euros and make work more attractive, Arizona also plans to reform social benefits. These would notably be capped. “I can understand that some measures might not please everyone“, admits Maxime Prévot. He gives the example of a cashier, “with a low income“whose neighbor, a social welfare recipient,”who does not work but who, due to the fact that he is on CPS or unemployed, is entitled to such additional social benefit, to such additional tax deductibility, not to pay taxes, etc.It is normal to say that at a given moment we have to set limits and ceilings because otherwise there is no longer any interest in going to work.“, explains Maxime Prévot.
