FINAL WHISTLE! In the end, Real Madrid clearly wins 3-0 against RCD Mallorca and thus advances to the final of the Supercopa de Espana. After a goalless first half with numerous chances, the second half continued just as furiously. First Jude Bellingham gave the Royals the lead and then things only got exciting in stoppage time. An own goal from Mallorca’s Valjent ensured the decision, while a little later Rodrygo scored the third goal. On Sunday the Madrilenians will face FC Barcelona in the final.
90+5. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL DEL REAL MADRID! In the end it becomes clear. Vazquez crosses into the penalty area, where Rodrygo scores single-handedly in the six-yard box to make it 3-0.
90+2. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL DEL REAL MADRID! That’s the decision in added time. Brahim Diaz plays a sweet pass to Mbappe in the penalty area, but Mallorca player Valjent puts the ball into his own goal.
90. There are six minutes of injury time added.
87. The game is over for Vinicius. Brahim Diaz comes in for him in the final minutes.
86. Camavinga again, Greif is there again. Mallorca’s best man blocked what was now his eighth shot.
80. Last change at Mallorca: Prats comes in for Rodriguez.
79. Vinicius plays into Mbappe’s path, who forces his way into the penalty area and forces Greif to make a brilliant save from a tight angle. The final phase has now begun. Will the Royals make everything clear here or will Mallorca come back?
77. That should have been 2-0! Vinicius does a great job of beating two opponents in the penalty area and then wants to do it himself. There were several Real stars free in the middle who could have pushed in. But the Brazilian was a little stubborn. By the way, his shot goes into the touchline.
74. Second change at Real: Ceballos comes on for Valverde.
74. Yellow card for Camavinga, who holds on to his opponent and prevents a counterattack.
72. Huge cheers in the stadium when ex-Blanco Karim Benzema appears on the screen. Of course, the Frenchman didn’t miss the opportunity to watch his former club’s game. He doesn’t have far to go.
70. Triple change at Mallorca: Darder, Morlanes and Larin go out. New to the game are Asano, Samu Costa and Navarro.
68. Mallorca seemed to be shocked by the goal they conceded and have not been able to get into the game at all since then. Real wants the second goal and wants to decide everything quickly.
66. The first yellow card of the game goes to the goal scorer. Bellingham complains because he didn’t get a corner and is warned.
63. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL DEL REAL MADRID! There is the longed-for leadership for the Royals. Rodrygo wins the ball in midfield and then it quickly passes through Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius. After a Vini cross, the ball lands at Rodrygo, whose header hits the post. In the follow-up shot, Mbappe fails the keeper and then it is Bellingham who puts the ball into the net – despite four Mallorca players on the line.
60. Mallorca has been doing a very good job in defense so far and is no longer allowing as much. There hasn’t been much to see of Vinicius in particular so far. It is precisely in games like this that Real needs him so much.
57. The Royals are currently not as keen to attack as they were in the first half. Mallorca, on the other hand, came out of the locker room a little better.
55. Things actually don’t go any further for Tchouameni, who leaves the field slightly dazed and not happy about the substitution. Asencio comes into play for him.
52. Violent collision in the Real penalty area between Tchouameni and Larin. The Frenchman needs to be treated by doctors.
48. Camavinga is keen to score today. The Frenchman tries again from a distance with his strong left foot, this time just missing the goal.
47. Mallorca has the first chance after the break. The ball reaches Rodriguez at the penalty spot, who shoots straight away. But in the end that wasn’t too dangerous, but the Real defense didn’t look so good.
46. Let’s move on! Apart from the injury-related substitution in the first half, there are no changes.
HALFTIME! 67:33 percent ball possession, 15 to 6 shots on goal, but no goals were scored. Real Madrid is the better team in this semi-final against Mallorca, created many chances to score and should have taken the lead. But so far the Madrilenians have not been allowed to celebrate. The Mallorcans did come dangerously close to Los Blancos’ goal one or two times, but they limited themselves more to defensive work. Mbappe and Bellingham in particular are making things difficult for coach Jagoba Arrasate’s team. The longer it is 0-0, the more difficult it will be for Real. After the break, it’s best to score early, otherwise a draw will go straight to penalties. But the second 45 minutes are long. We’ll get back to you in the second half.
45. There’s a minute on top.
44. Again there is excitement in the penalty area because Maffeo causes Vinicius to fall. But here too there is no penalty whistle.
-40. The last minutes before the break are running. Is something else happening here?
36. Next good opportunity for the Royals. Rodrygo’s shot in the penalty area is initially blocked. Camavinga shoots at it in the backcourt and misses clearly. The leadership here is long overdue.
33. First change at Mallorca: Raillo cannot continue due to injury. Copete comes into play.
30. Camavinga took heart and slammed the ball onto the goal from almost 25 meters, but it was nothing. On the other hand, Larin comes to a conclusion. It was significantly more dangerous. The ball flies just over Courtois’ goal.
24. Los Blancos’ pressure phase: Mallorca can hardly get out of their own half. The opening goal is in the air here.
21. Excitement in the Mallorca penalty area! Bellingham prevails beautifully and then falls. But that’s probably not enough for the referee and the VAR. No penalty!
19. And things get dangerous again on the other side too! Striker Larin initially waits alone in the penalty area for the cross, which then comes. But he can’t place the header optimally. The Real defense was lucky. Vazquez in particular didn’t look good in the scene.
16. Let’s continue with the degrees! Bellingham tries a low shot from around 18 meters, but again Greif saves safely.
13. Maffeo falls very theatrically after a duel with Vinicius. He is now standing again. It will be an exciting duel on the left today.
11. Tchouameni tries a powerful long-range shot, but Mallorca keeper Greif is there and saves well.
9. Mallorca is by no means hiding here in the opening minutes and also launches dangerous attacks forward. So far the Real defense has been stable.
4. The Royals are up for it! Rodrygo overcomes his opponent well in the penalty area and tests goalkeeper Greif, who has to save for a corner. Furious start for the favorite.
2. Directly the first opportunity for Real! Mbappe asserts himself well on the left and plays into the penalty area. Bellingham initially misses there, but Vazquez finishes. Goalkeeper Greif has the ball in his follow-up.
1. And here we go! Real Madrid plays the first half in the white jerseys from left to right.
BEFORE KICK-OFF: Both teams are ready, the second semi-final is about to begin.
SETUP MALLORCA: 90 minutes before kick-off it is now known how Mallorca will play. The starting eleven: Greif – Maffeo, Valjent, Raíllo, Mojica – Mascarell, Morlanes, Darder, D. Rodríguez – Larin, Muriqi.
REAL MADRID LINEUP: The starting eleven is already official two hours and 45 minutes before kick-off! This is how Real approaches the semi-finals: Courtois – Vázquez, Tchouaméni, Rüdiger, Mendy – Valverde, Camavinga – Bellingham – Rodrygo, Mbappé, Vinícius.
Bank: Lunin, González, Asencio, Alaba, D. Aguado, L. Aguado, García, Ceballos, Güler, Brahim, Endrick.
Conclusion: Ancelotti relies on the expected eleven. In central midfield, Eduardo Camavinga is preferred over Daniel Ceballos. Vinícius Júnior is there as in the Copa del Rey, his two-game ban only applies to LaLiga. The fact that the line-up appears so early has to do with the early departure from the hotel to Jeddah as a precautionary measure due to the volume of traffic. The press conference on Wednesday was therefore delayed by almost an hour. Before departure there was the team meeting in which Ancelotti announced the starting lineup to the stars. As a result, it was announced directly. Since the 2021/22 season, Real has always published its lineups 100 to 120 minutes in advance, which is pretty early. Reason: previous leaks in the media. Other clubs only reveal the starting eleven 60 to 75 minutes before kick-off.
REAL CAN MATCH: If Los Blancos make it to the final and beat FC Barcelona, they would draw level with the Catalans. Barca currently has 14 Supercopa successes, Real one less. Curious: Since the 2017/18 season, Real Madrid has won the competition every two years – according to the arithmetic, this time it’s another club’s turn. Or will Los Blancos make their first Saudi title defense?
PERSONAL: Until shortly before the game, Real Madrid’s personnel looked better than it had for a long time. But then came the news that Luka Modrić would not be taking part due to a cold. A bitter loss for the Royals. In addition to the Croatian, head coach Carlo Ancelotti is also without Daniel Carvajal (torn cruciate ligament), Éder Militão (torn cruciate ligament) and Jesús Vallejo (stricken). Otherwise, that’s it with the failure list. It hasn’t been this short with the Spanish record champions for several months. Also means: David Alaba is back in the squad for the first time in 13 months. However, the Austrian will probably not be used yet. It will be a few more days before the 32-year-old can be back on the pitch. Otherwise, Ancelotti is spoiled for choice. As always, you can read an expected line-up and other interesting information about the semi-final duel between Real Madrid and RCD Mallorca in our preliminary report.
HELLO EVERYONE! The first title of the year is in Real Madrid’s sights! As in previous years, the Royals have the opportunity to win their first trophy shortly after the turn of the year. To do this, RCD Mallorca must first be defeated in the Spanish Supercup. Both teams meet in the semi-finals.
