Two French films were rewarded at the Golden Globes on Sunday January 5 in Los Angeles: “Emilia Pérez” by Jacques Audiard and “The Substance” by Coralie Fargeat. A taste of the Oscars?
France shone in Hollywood on Sunday January 5. Director Jacques Audiard won four Golden Globes out of ten nominations, including Best Foreign Film, for his musical drama Emilia Perez. The story of a Mexican cartel leader's gender transition. A daring and successful bet carried by the transgender actress Karla Sofía Gascón and the star ofAvatarZoe Saldaña, awarded the statuette for Best Supporting Actor.
Another French director received a great reward: Coralie Fargeat attended the coronation of her lead actress, Demi Moore, who received the first prize of her career for the horror success The Substance. All are now on their way to the Oscars. Jacques Audiard could still return with his arms full of awards and Coralie Fargeat could create the surprise of the evening.
