The case that will be heard by the 32nd criminal chamber of the Paris judicial court from January 6 until April 10, 2025 is sprawling and complex. It concerns possible illicit financing of Nicolas Sarkozy's first presidential campaign (2007) by the Libyan regime of Muammar Gaddafi. It all began on March 10, 2011, when France recognized the National Transitional Council (CNT) as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people.
