The Lion King reigns over the box office with 2.5 million admissions in two weeks

At the start of the year, animated films are triumphant in cinemas. The king of animals has dethroned Princess Moana.

During school holidays, family films dominate the French box office. Mufasa : The Roi Lion maintains its place at the top of the ranking, ahead of the newcomer Sonic 3 – The movie et Vaiana 2according to the rankings released by CBO Box Office on Thursday 2 January.

For its second week in theaters, Mufasa : Le Roi Lion, animated film from Disney studios entrusted to Oscar-winning American director Barry Jenkins, crosses the 2.5 mark millions of cumulative entries. Distributed over 689 screens, the film attracted 1.3 million spectators last week.

Sonic 3 – The moviea new opus in the adventures of the blue hedgehog made famous by the eponymous video game from the Sega studio, takes second place. He achieved 1.2 million entries. Vaiana 2continuation of the adventures of the Polynesian Disney princess, comes close to seven million cumulative admissions for its fifth week in theaters.

Released at the same time, the French film A fanfarewhich brings together Benjamin Lavernhe and Pierre Lottin on screen, maintains its fourth place with 1.6 million cumulative entries since its release. New arrival in theaters, the film Nosferatu with Lily-Rose Depp, comes in ninth position with just over 170 000 entrées.
