The former emblematic goalkeeper of Bayern Munich and Germany, Oliver Kahn, said this Friday that he was leading preliminary discussions with a view to taking over the Girondins de Bordeaux club, today in great financial difficulties. “Discussions regarding possible involvement with the Girondins de Bordeaux are at an initial stage”Oliver Kahn told the popular German daily Bildconfirming information first published by the French regional daily South West. “There is nothing more to say at the moment.”added the former chairman of the board of the Munich club.
Kahn and Eyraud, the unexpected association
According to South WestJacques-Henri Eyraud, former president of OM, would have established the first contacts in December with the owner of the Girondins, Gérard Lopez, on behalf of Oliver Kahn.
Six-time champion of France, the Girondins de Bordeaux are playing this season in National 2, the fourth national level, after the club was placed in receivership in the summer of 2024 to fill a financial hole of more than 100 million euros in debt.

Jacques-Henri Eyraud, 56, was president of OM from October 2016, when the club was bought by Frank McCourt, until his departure at the start of 2021 following the “cypress revolution” led by the supporters at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training center, which contributed to his ouster and the nomination to the presidency of Pablo Longoria.
