In a message to the nation at the opening session of the second legislature of the National Assembly (parliament), the head of state pointed out that the future of the country depends on the modifications to social security.
Mulino asked the deputies to move forward responsibly and deliver their proposals in the first debate of the norm presented by the Government on November 6.
“You know well that not changing anything is not an option. Now it is your turn, as the National Assembly, to make the decisions,” he remarked.

“I decided to move forward in this direction so that every Panamanian is respected and guaranteed inclusion, transparency and social justice,” he stressed.
In other of his announcements, the dignitary indicated that he ordered the Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, to immediately reinstate the subject of the History of Relations between Panama and the United States in the country’s secondary schools.
The decision comes amid growing tensions in bilateral relations following statements by US President-elect Donald Trump, who takes office on January 20, in which he said he will demand the return and control of the Panama Canal.
Elsewhere, Mulino highlighted that for one year and for the sixth time Panama will be a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, an organization in which they will work for peace and harmony among all nations.
