Inzaghi after Inter-Atalanta: “There was no match. Lautaro? I always want him”

January 2 – 10.48pm – MILANO

The first step towards history has been taken. One is missing, waiting to understand who between Juventus and Milan Inter will face in the final. But Simone Inzaghi has already (re)set his sights on the Super Cup. The Nerazzurri coach is at 5 out of 5, more than anyone. The opportunity to hit 6 like in Superenalotto is there. “We were very good, there was no match against an opponent of absolute value – remarked the coach after the 2-0 against Atalanta -. A first step has been taken, now the most important one is missing. Even in other matches we won we didn't have all these opportunities: Carnesecchi saved everything and in the second half we should have closed it out by scoring 3-0, but I can't give the team any notes at the moment.”

“I'm very satisfied, it's never easy with all these games. Running, aggression, determination: the boys put everything on the pitch.” Inzaghi then focused on his defence, which also set a record in the offensive zone: “It's our way of playing: the defenders often manage to find themselves in scoring situations. But Dumfries, for example, has always scored. Both with the Nerazzurri and with the Netherlands. To create all these opportunities we needed quality and we put it on the pitch.” And on Lautaro, the only discordant note of an almost perfect evening: “We always need someone like him. On a couple of occasions he found himself in front of an extraordinary Carnesecchi, but we depend a lot on our strikers who have to work a lot for us.”
