Led by Disney's Lion and Paramount's Hedgehog, the last week of the year is reaching record heights.
With 5.4 million (M) admissions recorded, the weekly top 20 achieved by far the best performance of the year, ahead of the 4.9 M achieved the week of June 26, during the Fête du Cinéma, and the 5.3 million in the last week of 2023. Exceptional attendance, driven by Mufasa : The Roi Lion, Sonic 3 et Vaiana 2 which accumulate 3.4 million tickets, or 63% of the entries in the ranking, for 44% of the sessions. Precisely The King of the Jungle achieved the third best second week of 2024 with 1.3 million admissions (+13%), behind two other Disney films, Vice-versa 2 (1.9 million) and Vaiana 2 (1.6M). For its part, the blue hedgehog completed the ninth best first week of the year with 1.1 million tickets, ahead of some 3,000 tickets by A little something extra. Finally, the princess of the islands achieved 972,000 tickets for its fifth week (+4%); alone A little something extra did better this year (1.2 M).
In the rest of the ranking, French cinema continues to impress with A fanfare which attracts 300,000 spectators (+20%) for 46 admissions per screening (e/s), and now has 1.6 million, the sixth best result for a film distributed by Diaphana. Twenty Gods jumped 44% with 174,000 tickets and 38 e/s, and a cumulative total of 483,000. Alongside other films distributed by Pyramide this year, it is ahead at the same stage The Story of Souleymane (333,000 entries, cumulative to 522,000) and Seeds of the wild fig tree (329,000, totaling 570,000). Love phew recorded the highest increase in attendance in the ranking with 70,000 tickets (+57%) for 45 e/s, and a total of 4.8 million.
