LFI defends a “proposal from Macronist elected officials”

While the deputy of La insoumise Sébastien Delogu wants to amnesty the dealers and entrust them with the sale of cannabis in the event of legalization of this drug, his colleague Antoine Léaument recalls that this was a recommendation from elected Macronists in a 2021 report.

In the event of legalization of cannabis, the deputy of La France insoumise of Bouches-du-Rhône Sébastien Delogu wants to give dealers the possibility of selling it legally: “If we legalize cannabis and the delivery is managed by the State French, we can give people previously penalized the opportunity to open a business,” he defends in an interview on Twitch.

Understand, dealers convicted of drug trafficking could serve as traders in the event of legalization of cannabis while France remains the most repressive country in Europe while having the largest number of weed smokers.

A proposal which made the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau react: “The rebellious deputies continue in their pro-drug delusions,” he assured on X. “In the ideal world of Mr. Delogu, the dealer is a honorable civil servant. In mine, he lost his social housing, he no longer has the right to appear in the neighborhood where he dealt, he no longer has benefits and he is in prison,” added Bruno Retailleau.

A proposal already formulated by Macronist deputies

Asked on RMC and RMC Story this Thursday about Sébastien Delogu's idea, his rebellious colleague Antoine Léaument assured that this proposal had already been made by Macronist deputies in a 2021 parliamentary report: “When it was deputies Macronists, no one cared,” he notes.

Indeed in 2021, the then deputies of La République en Marche Jean-Baptiste Moreau and Caroline Janvier recommended in a report on recreational cannabis, to amnesty dealers convicted of “petty trafficking” and reintegrate them into legal sales to “redirect the rigorous and particularly inventive management skills acquired in the illegal economy.

“It was a proposal from Macronist deputies, it’s interesting, I think there should be a debate on the subject,” says Antoine Léaument today.

He also pleads for the legalization of cannabis in general, questioning the repressive policy currently in place and praised by Bruno Retailleau on X: “Is Mr. Retailleau's policy effective in reducing drug trafficking? No. The drug trafficking continues to increase and weaves networks with organized crime, arms trafficking and human trafficking,” continues Antoine Léaument.

“An own goal”

The elected official pleads for prevention policies against cannabis consumption and wants to target “big dealers” and money laundering. Under these conditions, the rebellious MP assures that legalization is “a policy to fight against trafficking” and would make it possible to stem the violence.

The exit of Sébastien Delogu makes people react Big Mouths: “There are good arguments for legalizing cannabis but here, Sébastien Delogu is going to engage in a form of paternalism and story-telling, it’s an own goal,” tackles GG French teacher Fatim Aït- Bounoua. “No doubt he makes himself a prisoner of his captive electorate through demagoguery by justifying crimes,” believes Emmanuel de Villiers.
