The cinematic year 2024 was a great vintage with many gems on display. Before moving to 2025, let's take a look back at this year with our last quiz of 2024 and 12 films released in the last 12 months to recognize!
Tonight, at midnight, the countdowns will begin all over France as we move into a new year, and for movie buffs this end of the year will be both the time to salivate over upcoming releases in 2025 (Avatar: Fire and Ash, Zootopia 2, Superman, Dog 51…) and to take stock of the past year.
A year 2024 which will once again have offered us great moments between the return of George Miller for Furiosa, the second part of the adaptation of Dune by Denis Villeneuve, or even, on the animation side, the long-awaited continuation of the adventures of Riley and of his emotions in Vice-Versa 2.
French cinema was not left out with the surprise success of Artus' film A little thing in addition which came close to 11 million admissions in France at the end of the year, the recent success of The Substance by the director Coralie Fargeat who could well create a surprise at the next Oscar ceremony, or the warm reception from the public reserved for the big screen adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo.
The film with Pierre Niney will also be broadcast on Canal+ on Friday evening, and we will tell you some filming secrets before offering you our last quiz of the year where you will have to try to find the titles of these twelve films released in 2024 .

A classic
-Le Comte de Monte Cristo has been the subject of around thirty transpositions on the small and big screen. The most recent, The Vengeance of Monte Cristo with Jim Caviezel, dates from 2002, while Josée Dayan's mini-series with Gérard Depardieu remains one of the most famous.
Homecoming
Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte reunite with several actors with whom they have already worked. This is the case of Laurent Lafitte who played in Papa ou Maman and its sequel, Patrick Mille who was in the casting of The Jungle, their first short film, but also Adèle Simphal and Marie Narbonne who played in The Best Still to Come.
Let's talk money
The budget of The Count of Monte Cristo is estimated at 43 million euros. For comparison, The Three Musketeers D'Artagnan cost 36 million, as did its sequel Milady.
