The always inevitable and highly followed – as well as highly appreciated – will return again this year New Year’s Eve Concert Vienna 2025 which will help us welcome the arrival of the new year on the musical notes performed by the always masterful Philharmonic Orchestra Viennese who will perform (as per tradition which is reconfirmed from year to year) in the wonderful Golden Hall of the Music club Austrian: the appointment with the Vienna 2025 New Year’s Concert – here too, as always – has already been set for the day of Wednesday 1 January 2025 always on Rai 2 at 1.30pm.
In addition to the first live broadcast of the Vienna 2025 New Year’s Concert on Rai 2, anyone who was busy in the early afternoon will be able to follow the repeat scheduled for 9.15pm on the fifth public service broadcaster (obviously Rai 5), but also – anticipating the live television – in audio-only format at ore 11:00 of January 1st thanks to the audio-only format broadcast on Radio 3 live from the Musikverein hall in Vienna; while in any case the concert can also be followed in live streaming thanks to the RaiPlay platform, or deferred after the publication of the broadcast.
NEW NEW YEAR’S CONCERT VIENNA 2025: RICCARDO MUTI CONDUCTS FOR THE SEVENTH TIME
Getting to the heart of the New Year’s Eve Concert Vienna 2025 live today on Rai 2, it is certainly worth remembering that this year the name of Riccardo Muti who returns for the seventh time – not consecutive – at the helm of one of the most popular classical music concerts in the world; just as it is interesting to note that this edition of the concert was dedicated (almost) entirely to the figure of Johann Strauss fils which in the coming months will be at the center of numerous events to celebrate the 200th anniversary of its birth.
Not surprisingly, in the program of New Year’s Eve Concert Vienna 2025 the Strauss name is predominant (between father and, above all, son), so much so that of the fourteen pieces that will be performed, 12 were actually composed by the famous family of Viennese composers; but it is certainly interesting to note that for the first time in the long tradition of the Vienna concert the name of a female composer also appears: it is Constanze Geiger with his ‘Ferdinand-Walzer‘ composed at the mere age of 13.
