Only 100,000 beneficiaries out of 1 million claimed their energy check

– The 2024 energy check is no longer available.

While it was possible, until December 31, to claim the 2024 energy check, many potential beneficiaries did not take the step. Four days before the deadline, about 900,000 people out of a million had not requested this aid paid to the most modest households, reports The Echoes. The online counter has been open since July.

This campaign was intended for those who had not received their energy check during the sending campaign in April. Because the abolition of the housing taxone million households were excluded from automatic payment. The administration based itself on the declarations of this tax to calculate the amount to be paid, before it was abolished in 2023, recalls the newspaper.

Between 48 and 277 euros

The people who were affected by this complaint, and who therefore mostly did not request it, are mainly young active peoplehouseholds which experienced a drop in income between 2021 and 2022, or households which experienced a birth in 2022.

As a reminder, the energy check is reserved for households whose 2022 reference tax income is less than 11,000 euros for a single person, 16,500 euros for a couple, 19,800 euros for a couple with a child and 23,100 euros for a couple with two children. In 2024, its amount oscillated between 48 and 277 euros. In 2023, 82% of energy vouchers had been used.
