In January 2025, several changes are expected to occur and could impact your daily life, particularly for children, or even for retirees or beneficiaries of active solidarity income.
With the censorship of Michel Barnier's government, the Social Security financing bill was therefore abandoned. In the latter, the increase in all pensions was 0.8% in January, and an additional 0.8% for small pensions in 2025.
However, since it has not been adopted, the classic rule for revaluing pensions set out in the Social Security Code applies, pensions are therefore increased by 2.2% in January (paid at the beginning of February). Basic private pensions are on average 814 euros gross per month. The increase therefore represents an average increase of 18 euros.
In 2025, beneficiaries of active solidarity income (RSA) will be automatically registered with France Travail, and will have to update themselves every month in the same way as other job seekers.
They will also have to commit to carrying out 15 to 20 hours of activities each week to prove their job search process. For example, they will be able to carry out training, internships, or even job interviews.
Vaccination for babies evolves in January, two new vaccines are therefore put in place to protect them against meningococcal infections ACWY and B. Vaccination against meningococcal C will be replaced by that against meningococcal ACWY.
A decision taken due to “recommendations from the High Authority of Health” with the aim of “better protecting infants against these serious infections, in response to a worrying resurgence observed in recent years” specifies the HAS in a decree of July 5 2024.
Children are also affected by the evolution of the health record. The latter will now contain four parts: “Neonatal period”, “Medical surveillance”, “Advice to parents and adolescents” and a part reserved for health professionals.
Several medical questions are addressed in this document, in particular prevention advice on the use of screens, details of monitoring the 20 compulsory examinations, making it possible to detect neurodevelopmental disorders, or even questions linked to adolescents, such as endometriosis. or mental health.
This time, government censorship will have prevented the extension of the use of meal vouchers in supermarkets. A bill to extend this use until 2026 was passed by the Assembly before the change of government, but not by the Senate. The extension could therefore not be adopted.
Thus, holders of meal vouchers will no longer be able to shop for food products that are not directly consumable with them.
2025 is also accompanied by a further increase in the price of tobacco. Packs of classic cigarettes of 20 units will now cost more than 12 euros. Other products such as cigars and rolling tobacco will also see their prices increase.
