The complaint, that The Point was able to consult exclusively, is accompanied by several screenshots of the tweets of the Franco-Syrian MP and highlights the radical nature of an increasingly assertive speech of support for Hamas.
“Rima Hassan could be guilty of advocating terrorism”
As the complaint recalls in detail, there is today “no regular Palestinian armed force fighting in the war currently raging in the Gaza Strip”, only Hamas and this since 2005. “Furthermore, , the term “Palestinian armed resistance” is the term used by Hamas itself to define itself in its founding charter of 1988,” specifies the complaint submitted this Monday to the public prosecutor.
Consequently, by calling in a long tweet posted on December 18 “every Franco-Palestinian” to “be able to join the Palestinian armed resistance”, Rima Hassan could be guilty of advocating terrorism and would therefore have incited the commission of “a crime or a misdemeanor.” “There is a real one-upmanship on the part of Ms. Hassan,” confirms Me Rachel Lefèvre, co-author of the complaint.
“She gives the feeling of believing herself to be untouchable and that what she says would be perfectly justified. As long as no one stops it, it can only continue, which is why the complaint is useful because it must enter into a public debate! Because it is not just a question of semantics: it assumes the legitimacy of Hamas and even calls for people to join the armed resistance,” explains the lawyer.
“A disguised call to join Hamas”
After several complaints for advocating terrorism in particular, the complaint filed this Monday, December 30 again returns to the participation of the MEP in a pro-Hamas demonstration in Jordan, information revealed in August by The Point.

Me Déborah Journo, co-author of the complaint for the Jewish Observatory of France, says she has already suffered at the end of November from a cabal led by Rima Hassan on her social networks after having supported the banning of a conference by the Insoumise MP at Sciences Po Paris. “She targeted me directly on Twitter and Instagram, which earned me many messages. This ended up calming down when Sciences Po appealed. Rima Hassan also tried to enter our private WhatsApp group “Action Avocats”. We rejected his two requests because we do not let just anyone in,” relates Me Déborah Journo. Contacted on this subject, Rima Hassan has not yet responded to our requests.
For the lawyer, who recalls that Rima Hassan is widely followed on social networks, particularly by young people, this accumulation of complaints against the MEP shows that “we must act”. “It’s not necessarily against her, but it’s also for our country and our youth. We must restore the law and legality, and Rima Hassan leaves the legality. It is not for nothing that her party, La France insoumise, supports the bill to repeal the offense of glorifying terrorism… Ms. Hassan's tweets are nothing less than a disguised appeal. to join Hamas, an appeal read by many young subscribers on its social networks,” concludes Me Déborah Journo.
