In 2004, Arthur anime Take it or leave ita daily game adapted from a Dutch format. On TF1, this meeting allows anonymous candidates, at the end of a breathtaking suspense, to hope to win large sums of money… or a few cents. A program which left its mark on the public, but also its host. In the documentary Arthur, a TV kid which is dedicated to him on the occasion of his 30 years of career, the father of three children looks back on this experience. He mentions in particular the impact that the program had on him, but above all, the identity of the famous banker aka the “jackal” with whom he spoke by telephone on the set!

Thus, Arthur says: “I ended the show in tears several timesmany times, because I had become attached to the candidates who were there for weeks, because I had talked with them, had lunch in the canteen with them. We spent time together, hours on set! You're sad because he's leaving but you're happy because he took the money“. But this is not the only memory of the one who created TV kids or Friday anything goes : “I can tell you that the person who exchanged a 500,000 euro box for a one euro box, I couldn't sleep at night….“.
“He's a friend!“: Arthur reveals who the banker was on the show Take it or leave it
Throughout the game, Arthur was in contact with the famous “banker” by telephone. A mysterious interlocutor who announced the sums that were offered to participants to leave the game. An identity kept secret but revealed in the documentary Arthur, the TV kid. During all these years, the presenter spoke with a member of the production, Laurent Zeitoun who, in front of the camera, confides: “I am the banker of the boxesTake it or leave it. Normally I don't exist, this is the first time I've said it“. And the one who shares Mareva Galanter's life adds: “I know who it is, he's a friend of minea super funny guy“. And for good reason, his challenge was every day to find all possible ways to surprise or make the host laugh in public, in addition to announcing the sums he was offering. “He did everything to me” still laughs the latter, who has wonderful memories of the jokes written by his friend at the time.
