Singer-songwriter Reinhard Mey returned to the screen in the “Helene Fischer Show” after 25 years of absence from television and provided moving moments.
Reinhard Mey, one of the most successful German-speaking songwriters, celebrated his big TV comeback on Christmas Day. After 25 years without a television appearance, the 82-year-old chose the “Helene Fischer Show” for his return.
For host Helene Fischer, the appearance was a very special moment. “A very big wish of mine is coming true,” said the pop singer, according to “Gala”.
Mey first presented his current song “You can fly”. He then sang a duet with Fischer. They sang the Mey hit “We” from 1990.
The songwriter's performance visibly touched Fischer. With tears in her eyes, she emphasized how happy she was about Mey's participation. “I can’t say it often enough, it’s a huge honor for me,” explained the “Breathless” interpreter, according to “RTL”.
The appearance was also significant for Mey. He explained his comeback on the show: “I was just waiting for the right show.”
The audience in the Düsseldorf exhibition hall honored Mey's performance with a standing ovation.
In addition to Mey's appearance, the “Helene Fischer Show” offered other highlights. Among those present were Marianne Rosenberg, Giovanni Zarrella and Robbie Williams.
Fischer's ex-partner Florian Silbereisen was also a guest. The two sang a romantic duet. Fischer emphasized the friendly relationship with Silbereisen.
However, the show's ratings were unexpectedly poor. Only 3.61 million people watched – fewer than ever in the show's 13 years.
