It’s a page that is turning for Paul-Georges Ntep.
At the age of 32, the Franco-Cameroonian striker announced this Thursday, December 26, 2024, that he was ending his professional career. In an interview with France Bleu, the promising ex-winger explained that he was “ moved on », evoking entrepreneurial projects and a desire for personal development. Revealed at AJ Auxerre between 2010 and 2014, Ntep quickly attracted attention with his talent and explosiveness. These qualities opened the doors to Stade Rennais for him, where he enjoyed his best years.
Ntep has good memories of Rennes
Between assists and spectacular gestures, the left winger established himself in Brittany as one of the most prominent players in Ligue 1. However, his subsequent experiences at Wolfsburg, at AS Saint-Étienne (on loan) , Guingamp or even Boavista have not confirmed the initial promises. In search of a final adventure, Ntep set down his bags in Vietnam for the 2023-2024 season before hanging up his crampons for good. His atypical career also stands out internationally. After wearing the Blues jersey twice in 2015, he then chose to represent Cameroon, playing four matches with the Indomitable Lions.
Looking in the rearview mirror, Paul-Georges Ntep says he is generally satisfied with his career. “My years in Rennes are among the best of my life,” he confides, while recognizing some regrets: the absence of participation in European competitions and the lack of trophies. He will be remembered as a generous player, blessed with a keen vision of the game, although sometimes criticized for his lack of efficiency in front of goal. In total, Ntep played 87 matches in Ligue 1 and 65 in Ligue 2, leaving a mark marked by his spectacular and altruistic style.
