Lat Diop's defense does not intend to give up in this case of alleged misappropriation of public funds. She remains convinced that her client was arbitrarily kept in prison and that, according to the law, he should today benefit from official freedom, the argument of the Indictment Chamber to reject the two requests being not founded. The lawyers had promised to appeal to the Supreme Court and this has now been done, according to the daily newspaper L'Observateur which provides the information in its publication this Monday. Indeed, the advice of the former Minister of Sports filed their appeal before the high court to obtain the quashing of the decision of the Financial Indictment Chamber. If the Supreme Court agrees with them, this would mean that Lat Diop could benefit from statutory freedom. Also, his bank accounts frozen until then can be released. The ball is therefore in the camp of supreme judges who will have to examine the appeal.
It should be noted that Lat Diop's lawyers had submitted two appeals to the Financial Indictment Chamber, one of which related to the exceeding of the time limit for police custody and the other to the release of their client's bank accounts. , ordered by the president of the college of investigating judges of the Financial Judicial Unit.
