The 5.1 meter long, 700 kilogram crocodile Burt passed away peacefully in captivity in Darwin, Australia over the weekend. This was reported by the Crocosaurus Cove Crocodile Herpetarium, where Burt had lived since 2008.

After arriving at Crocosaurus Cove in 2008, Burt quickly became an icon of crocodile conservation. According to “20min,” his carers describe him as “unique” and a “force of nature.”
Burt was “a reminder of the power and majesty of these incredible creatures,” his keepers continued.
Visitors from all over the world were always amazed at Burt's impressive size and imposing presence, especially at feeding time.
