Christmas Eve: Will feel noticeably milder

While yesterday was another chilly day, much milder air has moved in behind a warm front overnight. Temperatures have risen overnight from the west with double digits for most by this morning.

Today will be dominated largely by low cloudwith mist and fog in parts and some outbreaks of drizzle in places. Some more prolonged rainfall is possible earlier on across western Scotland. It will be especially mild, with temperatures in the low teens likely. Some spells of sunshine are possible including across parts of north west England, parts of eastern England and north east Scotland.

Highs of 13°C for London and Birmingham, 12°C for Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff and Aberdeen. It will be an unseasonably mild daytemperatures could reach as high as 14-15°C in some places.

Christmas Day: Dry and mild

It won’t be a picture perfect Christmas weather-wise, though it will at least be mild and also dry for most of us. For those in the far north and west of the Scotlandit could be a blustery day with persistent rain or drizzle and breezy conditions.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or is it? Double figure temperatures will make it feel more akin to early spring rather than mid winter

For the vast majority, it will be dominated by low cloud and predominantly dry and calm conditions, some drizzle is possible in places and perhaps transient brighter spells for some throughout the day.

Temperatures once again will be in double figures widely across the country with 11°C for London and Birmingham, 12°C for Glasgow, Cardiff and Aberdeen.

Boxing Day: Very similar theme continuing

Once again, a similar theme for Boxing Day. The weather front across the north west of Scotland could bring some heavier and more persistent rain throughout the day. Some of this rain could push into Northern Ireland as the day goes on, but it should remain dry elsewhere aside from the odd shower.

It will remain mild once againperhaps a degree or two cooler than previously, with temperatures between 9-11°C for most of us.

The rest of the week

Milder conditions continuing with rain and showers confined to areas further north west. By the weekend, the weather may turn slightly more unsettled.

Temperatures will be in high single figures or just into double figures for most. Remaining mild, though it seems that the mildest of the weather this week will be between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
