The LR senator from the Alpes-Maritimes, Philippe Tabarot, had not been informed of his entry into the government.
An atypical appointment. The new Minister Delegate for Transport, Philippe Tabarot, learned of his entry into government live on television! “I knew my name had been circulating, but I had no confirmation, he told LCI. I watched as millions of French people Alexis Kohler announced the government list on the steps of the Élysée.” Near Nice-MorningSenator LR of the Alpes-Maritimes said “happy to serve my country in this troubled time”despite a “political situation [qui] is not simple”.
A thought for her “90 year old mother”
Once the government was announced by the Secretary General of the Élysée, Philippe Tabarot jumped on the last plane to Paris. “We had to quickly organize ourselves to be present this morning” for the transfer of power, scheduled for 10 a.m. with the resigning minister François Durovray. “When it’s good news like that, we find all the means to be able to arrive on time and experience this strong moment on a personal level”shares the 54-year-old elected official, who confides having had a thought for his “90 year old mom”.
By appointing Philippe Tabarot to the Ministry of Transport, François Bayrou is choosing an elected official specializing in mobility issues, previously vice-president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in charge of transport. Since his election to the Senate in 2020, he has been the transport budget rapporteur. In particular, it produced a report on the deployment of low-emission zones. In Nice-Matin, Philippe Tabarot said “operational immediately”. “There are many things to improve in the transport sector”he added.
