Not white but gray Christmas: code yellow for slippery roads in Wallonia

It will be gray on Tuesday with some light rain or drizzle at times. In the east, precipitation can freeze locally and it is misty. The RMI reports this. In Wallonia, code yellow applies for slippery roads on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday evening and night it remains cloudy with low clouds. There is sometimes some light rain or drizzle, especially over the eastern half of the country. The minimums are between 0 and 2 degrees at the Ardennes heights and around 9 or 10 degrees in the far west. Mist or fog can form in several places.

WednesdayOn Christmas Day, it is gray all day with occasional drizzle. In the morning there is also a chance of mist or fog, which can linger in the Ardennes until the afternoon. The maximum temperatures fluctuate between 4 or 5 degrees in the East Cantons and 10 or 11 degrees in the west.

Also Boxing Day starts gray with a chance of some drips or drizzle. During the afternoon there will be gradual clearing in the east and southeast of the country, but this still needs to be confirmed. The maximum temperatures fluctuate between 7 or 8 degrees at the Ardennes heights and 9 to 11 degrees in Flanders.

The RMI still warns against CO poisoning due to the use of water heaters or fireplaces to heat rooms. It requires you to be very attentive to symptoms such as headache or vomiting, which can be the result of CO intoxication.

Slippery roads in Wallonia

The RMI also warns of slippery roads for all Walloon provinces, except Walloon Brabant. Code yellow applies for slippery conditions until Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. There is no warning for the Flemish provinces and Brussels, although it can become very slippery in places in the center of the country.

The RMI expects winter showers on the Ardennes heights in the first part of the night, sometimes with snow above 300 to 400 meters. Afterwards, clear spells will appear temporarily, which sometimes become broad, causing light frost south of Sambre and Meuse.

The roads are wet due to rain and melted snow and can therefore become slippery due to frost and ice patches. In the center of the country the minimum temperatures drop between 0 and +2 degrees, but on the ground the temperature can temporarily become negative and ice spots can also form very locally during the second part of the night.

A weak rain zone will reach the east of the country on Tuesday morning. In the High Ardennes, the light precipitation can temporarily freeze and cause slippery roads
