Political reactions increased this Monday evening after the announcement of the new government composed by Prime Minister François Bayrou. If the far right has denounced a “coalition of failure”, on the left censorship is rearing its ugly head.
Reactions are pouring in and threats of censorship are pouring in. While Prime Minister François Bayrou announced the composition of his government this Monday, December 23, reactions were not long in coming on both the left and the right.
Around 5:30 p.m., Xavier Bertrand decided to pull the rug out from under François Bayrou. Until now expected to join his government, he announced on X “refuse to participate in a government of France formed with the approval of Marine Le Pen”.
“The Prime Minister informed me this morning, contrary to what he had proposed to me yesterday, that he was no longer able to entrust me with responsibility for the Ministry of Justice due to the opposition of the Rally national”, wrote the LR president of Hauts-de-France. “Despite his new proposals, I refuse to participate in a French government formed with the approval of Marine Le Pen.”
An announcement, which did not go unnoticed by the left, in particular Raphaël Glucksmann who denounces a placing “under supervision” of the new government by the extreme right and a recycling of the former Barnier government.
A government “under the surveillance of the far right”?
Bruno Retailleau, Élisabeth Borne, Gérald Darmanin… On “.
For Fabien Roussel, leader of the Communist Party, the announcement of the new government appears like “a day without end”. “We are far from the new world! Looking forward to something new,” he proclaimed on X.
“It’s not a government, it’s a provocation. The extreme right in power under the surveillance of the extreme right,” said Olivier Faure, socialist deputy, on the same social network.
“The worst is always possible in Macronie, cornered by the extreme right. I can’t wait for the person responsible for this sinister spectacle to go away,” wrote Clémence Guetté, a rebellious MP.
Bayrou government: announcement of the composition in full
“Bayrou is getting a little closer to censorship every day”
Faced with this disillusionment, Marine Tondelier, national secretary of Les Écologues, did not rule out a possible vote on a motion of censure in the National Assembly.
“François Bayrou is getting a little closer to censorship every day. He paves the way for his own censorship with each act,” Marine Tondelier told BFMTV.
According to the Hauts-de-France regional councilor, the new government “does not correspond to the votes of the French”. Moreover, “the same causes will produce the same consequences”, she warned, recalling the reasons which led to the resignation of Michel Barnier's government.
The only possible outcome: censorship, insisted the leader of the deputies of La France insoumise, Mathilde Panot. “With the fall of Bayrou, King Macron will be naked. His departure is inevitable,” she said on X.
The RN denounces a “coalition of failure”
On the side of the National Rally, the president of the RN Jordan Bardella did not hesitate to single out the new government, calling it a “coalition of failure”.
Likewise, the president of the Union of Rights, allied to the National Rally, Éric Ciotti believes that the government of François Bayrou is “chained to the impotence of the same time.”
“Even the last socialist elephants participate in a team of political ghosts highlighting the isolation of the Minister of the Interior,” continued the MP for Alpes-Maritimes.
