She is the only political figure from Aquitaine, apart from Prime Minister François Bayrou, to retain a role in the new government. Nathalie Delattre has just been appointed Minister Delegate in charge of Tourism, this Monday, December 23. This is his second ministerial function under the presidency of Emmanuel Macron.
Last September, Nathalie Delattre became Minister of Relations with Parliament. In a tense context where the risk of censorship loomed from the start, the elected official had the difficult task of streamlining exchanges between ministers and parliamentarians. She had to leave her post less than 3 months after her appointment, swept away in the fall of the Barnier government.
Radical senator from Gironde since 2017 within the European Democratic and Social Rally group, vice-president of the Senate between 2020 and 2023, Nathalie Delattre is a known face in local and national political life. Today she sits in the opposition group to the Bordeaux majority. Her name regularly comes up as a likely candidate for the 2026 municipal elections.
A native of the Paris region, she grew up in Périgueux in the Dordogne. After studying law, the lawyer retrained in 2002 and settled on a vineyard in Langoiron with her husband. The winemaker became a municipal councilor from 2018, notably assistant to Alain Juppé for almost 10 years.
Other Aquitaine elected officials were expected to obtain or keep a place within the new government. Appointed Minister of Health and Access to Care at the end of September after several ministerial functions since 2020, Geneviève Darrieussecq was not reappointed. The Landes MP for Modem has, however, been close to François Bayrou for years. It was he who came to get her, 20 years ago, so that she could go into politics. The first council of ministers will be held on January 3, 2025, at 10 a.m.
