Ghent captain Sven Kums made two unique LEGO works of art for De Warmste Week: “Definitely will stick”

Artist on and off the field. KAA Gent captain Sven Kums is not only a footballer, but also an artist. He has been making striking works with LEGO blocks for several months. Kums made two unique creations especially for De Warmste Week. From Pommelien Thijs and the cuddly flame.

Under the appropriate project name 'Kumst', former Golden Shoe Sven Kums has been creating beautiful works of art with LEGO for some time.

“For me it is a moment of peace, an opportunity to reflect and a way to express my emotions in a creative way,” he said earlier.

So far, football has been the central theme, but especially for De Warmste Week the midfielder took a different tack. Kums worked on a painted portrait of artist friend Jurgen Massi with LEGO blocks and made a cuddly flame himself with the well-known building blocks.

The Ghent captain passed by in Bruges on Monday morning, the day after the victory against Standard, to give away the singer's work.

“The result is impressive,” he said. “And it's all stuck on there, so it definitely sticks.”

Anyone who looks closely at Kums' work will discover several hidden messages that all refer to Pommelien Thijs. Such as MIAs, gold records, a sewing machine, references to her songs, …

Listener Ine was ultimately the lucky winner of the SMS campaign.
