Ulysse (Star Academy) questions his singing career after a remark from Marlène Schaff

The six remaining students at the castle Star Academy received the gift of not having to experience nomination or elimination during the bonus this Saturday, December 21. Charles has, however, joined Ebony in the clan of the immune for the next bonus, the one which will take place on December 28. This Sunday, in Marlène Schaff's debrief, Ulysse shared his questions and the doubts he has about his future career. It all started when the vocal coach took over the performance of the trio Charles, Marine and Ulysse on the song Formidable of Stromae, and that she noted a lack of confidence in him on the part of Lily's boyfriend.

It was a detail for me“: Marlène Schaff debriefs the trio performance of Charles, Marine and Ulysse on Formidable

A little imprecision in the attacks of your notes (…) You will always take your notes from below, and there are times when it can work but there are times when it lasts a little extra time which means that ‘Ah mince !’we are no longer completely precise on the note. And, when you give such a beautiful performance – that is to say that from the start you were in your interpretation, the tone suited you perfectly, you found the character extremely well and therefore your tone on the verses.. . I love it, I've already told you many times, I love it when it's scratchy like that, so really… But as I tell you, it was a detail for me, because all three of you suggested something“, says Marlène Schaff to Ulysse this Sunday.

I wondered if I wasn't going to end up a composer“: Ulysses calls his career into doubt

You can really be very, very proud of what you have done. You really showed off. (…) I raise it because it happens, it's another little problem that you have. But (…) besides that, there are so many things now that you have mastered and managed to do… I have the impression that you love your voice more and more because you let it express itself a lot more“, continued the vocal coach before giving the floor to her student. “I don't know if it's a question of liking him more, it's just that I understood that I shouldn't undersing“, replied Ulysses while affirming that “not so much“love her voice.”It really depends on the location.“, he added while specifying that, on this performance itself, he found it “annoying“.

Ulysses (Star Academy) doubts his vocal abilities

I don't know how to say it but I have the impression that my voice, my tone of voice, is a vague imperfection. (…) It always goes a little in all directions, and it's never very clear. And that's why when I have to do slightly vocal songs where there are notes to hold, well for me it's a super-human effort because I have the impression that it's not is not possible“, continued Ulysse before Marlène Schaff gave them a lesson on the narcissization of sound: “It’s learning to love the sound you produce. You have to love your voice, you have to love your instrument. (…) The more you love it, the more you'll really have fun with it“. And Ulysses replied, cash: “I got to the point where I'm not a fan of my voice, that I wondered if I wasn't going to end up as a composer.“. A response which did not arouse much emotion from his coach who simply replied: “either“, before resuming his speech on the fact”to love your instrument“.
