Six departments, three in the west of France and three others in the South-East, will be on orange alert on Sunday, Météo-France announces, Saturday December 21. Manche, Ille-et-Vilaine and the Côtes-d'Armor department will be placed on orange alert from 10 a.m. for the risk of violent winds, and will remain so until 4 p.m.
From 9 a.m., Haute-Savoie, Savoie and Isère will be placed on orange alert for a risk of snow and ice, before being placed at the same level of alert for a risk of avalanches, from 6 p.m. .
“In a fast northwesterly flow between a depression named 'Enol' located to the west of Norway and a powerful anticyclone located over the North Atlantic, strong gusts will affect the coastal departments of the Channel on Sunday and heavy snowfall will fall on the north of the Alps from the middle mountains”, Météo-France specified in its bulletin on Saturday afternoon.
The meteorological organization finally added that “dSunday, the departments of Finistère, Calvados and Seine-Maritime will be affected by violent and frequent gusts from the North-West as well.” “At present, a worsening of the level of vigilance for the violent wind parameter is not not excluded for these departments”, he clarified.
