This Saturday evening, Aviron Bayonnais won on the lawn of Vannes (27-21). In this meeting, Joris Segonds managed perfectly while opposite, Michael Ruru did not always make the right choices.
The tops
As usual, the Basque flyhalf perfectly steered the rowing boat in Brittany. In fairly complicated conditions, Joris Segonds showed himself to be calm and lucid in his decision-making. At the half-hour mark, he put Tiberghien in the interval perfectly, who then served Maqala for Bayonne's second try. Let's also not forget a 100% against the posts with 5 successful kicks in as many attempts.
Lately, the Argentinian international has had a string of good performances. Another very good performance from him against Vannes. In the first act, it was he who scored his team's third try just before the break. Too powerful for the opposing defense, he managed to flatten with force. Aside from this action, Bruni transformed himself into a shadow worker: 13 out of 14 for him in defense. Very good job.
His three mistakes made the picture a little darker, but what a picture! The hooker first scored Rowing's first try in the 5th minute. And then, a masterclass lasting just under 70 minutes. 16 tackles, 6 races, 4 defenders beaten: a monumental stat line.

The former Biarrot was the author of a very good first period. Able to bring the balls up to the level despite catching the ball while stationary. Decisive on Surano's test. Released a little too early (53e).
The flops
He played too much for himself and not enough for his partners. Certainly we expect a number nine to take initiatives but also to alternate and shift their partners in the intervals. Penalized for not having played a ball quickly enough, on a regrouping.
We expect a lot more from him. He did not weigh on the meeting. Too neutral. Not active enough, especially in defense while his team was dominated. He should be one of the leaders by example of those promoted, but in this match he was too discreet.
