Mufasa The Lion King box office collection day 1: Shah Rukh Khan, Mahesh Babu’s stardom propels Disney film to Rs 10 crore debut | Hollywood News

The highly anticipated prequel to The Lion King, Mufasa: The Lion King, has made a stunning debut at the Indian box office, with its dubbed versions contributing significantly to its first-day earnings. According to early reports, the film has minted Rs 10 crore on its opening day, with the Hindi version, featuring Shah Rukh Khan’s voiceemerging as the top performer, followed closely by the Telugu version, which features the voice of Mahesh Babu as Mufasa.

According to industry tracking website Sacnilk, Mufasa: The Lion King, on day one in cinema halls, earned Rs 10 crore in India (English: Rs 4 crore ; Hindi: Rs 3 crore; Telugu: Rs 2 crore; Tamil: Rs 1 crore). According The Hollywood Reporter the film is expected to gross $180 million globally in its first weekend.

The star-studded voice cast of Mufasa: The Lion King has been a major draw for audiences, with Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu bringing their unique star power to the project. The Hindi version also boasts a talented lineup, including Meiyang Chang as Taka, and the beloved comic duo Shreyas Talpade and Sanjay Mishra voicing Timon and Pumbaa, respectively. Moreover, Shah Rukh Khan’s sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan are also part of the voice cast, with Aryan voicing Simba and AbRam making his debut as a voice actor, playing the younger version of Mufasa.

The film’s impressive opening day collections can be attributed to the strong demand at the box office, with approximately 65,000 tickets sold in advance bookings, including 35,000 reserved for the opening day alone. The Telugu version, in particular, has experienced impressive pre-sales, thanks to Mahesh Babu’s fanbase. As Mufasa: The Lion King continues its run at the box office, it remains to be seen whether it can sustain its momentum and live up to the hype surrounding its release.

With its stunning visuals, engaging storyline, and talented voice cast, Mufasa: The Lion King has all the ingredients to become a blockbuster hit. The film’s success will not only be a testament to the power of Disney’s storytelling but also a reflection of the growing appetite for Hollywood films in India.

The Indian Express’ Shalini Langar gave the film a rating of three-and-a-half-stars and wrote, “Thirty years after the Disney animation blazed onto the screen, and five years after it got a photorealistic remake — plus other minor and major takes of The Lion King — the Circle of Life gets another spin.”
