“We expected nothing from the prosecution, we expected everything from the Court”declared Friday December 20 to franceinfo Francis Szpiner, lawyer for the ex-partner of Samuel Paty after the convictions of the accused at trial.

“I note that the Court retained the initial qualifications that the prosecution had abandoned”adds the lawyer, recalling that “two of the accused were convicted for what they did, that is to say complicity in assassination, the others for terrorist criminal associations with sentences which are up to the challenge posed to the Republic “.

Francis Szpiner believes that the sentences “are equal to the crime, nWe can only rejoice about it. It is a disavowal for the requisitions of the national anti-terrorist prosecution and it is a disavowal for the defense which explained that there was nothing”.

For the lawyer, this verdict is “perfectly balanced and we can only rejoice about it”. “The Republic has responded to the challenge posed by Islamist terrorism.”
