The verdict is in for Donnarumma after his spectacular injury

Injured in the face during a spectacular clash against Monaco, Gianluigi Donnarumma will be absent for PSG’s last match of the year.

Wednesday evening, during the match against Monaco (2-4 victory), Gianluigi Donnarumma was the victim of a spectacular incident. The Saint-Germain goalkeeper received a violent blow to the face, caused by Wilfried Singo’s crampons. This shock left visible marks: a deep cut on the cheek, which required immediate intervention to urgently insert ten staples.

If the Parisian goalkeeper was able to leave the stadium quickly after being stitched up, his scarred face testified to the violence of the impact. Fortunately, initial examinations ruled out any serious injury.

Doctors estimate that he could be sidelined for a period of 10 to 15 days, depending on the progress of the injury. This is what Le Parisien reveals this Thursday evening.

A possible surgical intervention pending

The question of surgery has been raised but is not confirmed at this stage. The medical staff is currently favoring a natural approach to promote healing. However, developments in the coming days will make it possible to determine whether an operation is necessary.

PSG hopes that Donnarumma will be operational by the start of 2025. This episode nevertheless reminds us of the fragility of this demanding position, where violent contact can lead to spectacular injuries. Remember that Singo received no warning for this missed intervention, which earned Letexier, the referee of the game, countless criticisms after the match.
