Tottenham dominates Manchester United and will challenge Liverpool in the semi-final

At home, the Spurs were able to do the job to get the better of the pale Red Devils, despite Fraser Foster being far from imperial in his kicking game (4-3). They have therefore qualified for the last four in which they will challenge Liverpool.

Tottenham were very hot and this was partly due to the errors of their goalkeeper. This Thursday, on the occasion of the final quarter-final of the League Cup, Spurs, in the good momentum started after the destruction of Southampton in the Premier League (0-5), have long been above a Manchester United unconvincing, and with a Leny Yoro holder in a three-way defense, with Lisandro Martínez and Victor Lindelöf. A quarter of an hour into the game, it was the locals who opened the scoring through Dominic Solanke, an opportunist after a rejected shot from Pedro Porro (1-0, 15th).

Fraser Foster revived Manchester United with two errors

In front at half-time, the Spurs managed to ignite the second act from the start, with the break goal signed by Dejan Kulusevski with a shot under the bar (2-0, 46th) and Dominic Solanke’s uncrossed shot to his double (3-0, 54th) then suggested a really quiet evening for Ange Postecoglou’s players. However, this was without taking into account the lack of skill – or simply the stupidities – committed by an under-the-radar Fraser Foster. The 36-year-old goalkeeper was first guilty of a bad pass intercepted by Bruno Fernandes who found the recent entrant Joshua Zirkzee (3-1, 63rd) and, then, following a back pass, the goalkeeper took too long to clear and Amad Diallo’s tackle at his feet allowed the ball to end up in the net (3-2, 70th).

Consequently, Tottenham suffered greatly from the blow, less dashing and trembling on the visitors’ attacks. However, on a corner from Son Heung-min and a trajectory poorly appreciated by an Altay Bayindir who was also not at ease and a little jostled, the Spurs were able to add an inevitably welcome goal (4-2, 88th) and which did not was not the last of this crazy match because, with an unfortunate header, Yves Bissouma deceived his own goalkeeper (4-3, 90th + 4). The Spurs, it’s always that, thus join the last four with a shock against Liverpool over two matches (first leg the week of January 6, return on February 3). The other semi-final pitted Arsenal against Newcastle.
